The Surly Goat
About
Tucked down a quiet dead-end street off Main Road, The Surly Goat fills a former tearoom with a fireside bar and two small dining rooms. Chef and owner David Willcocks cooks a four-course set menu that changes with whatever local growers bring in, from Mt Franklin Organics vegetables to Inglenook Dairy cream. The wine list leans towards small makers and is worth a slow read. The restaurant holds one hat in the 2026 Good Food Guide. Booking ahead is wise.
