The Royal Standard Farm Daylesford

We booked The Royal Standard to celebrate our Mum’s 70th with a family getaway. The property and grounds were beautiful, so great for kids (especially as we were generously invited to explore the veg garden and barn next door by the owner). The location is close enough to Daylesford proper to get to attractions within minutes, but also feels so secluded, safe and peaceful, being on the outskirts of town.

Unfortunately, our experience didn’t align with other reviews in terms of the cleanliness of the property. Evidence of past guests was very swiftly found with food left in the freezer, rubbish found in bathrooms, and surfaces, floors and furniture covered in food bits and crumbs. The Discover Daylesford team were very responsive and offered to get someone out to clean, but it wasn’t practical as we were a busy household once everyone arrived.

Other than the cleanliness, everything was pretty true to the description, and we ended up having a great time as a family.

House was perfect for our family visit, would stay again.

A beautiful homestead, restored and extended. Plenty of accomodation, spacious but warm! Beds super comfy. So relaxing.

As a family (6 adults, 3 children under 8) We stayed at the house to celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday. My mum could not believe how beautiful the house and location was. The location offers privacy, but not too far out that you feel along in the middle of nowhere where. The property is sprawling with beauty and set the tone for what the house had to offer. With every room having a private bathroom, we all felt that little bit of luxury. The bedrooms were extremely clean and comfortable.
The kitchen was the heart of our stay. With a long table to share meals, stay up late with a cuppa or spend the mornings crafting together. It was the perfect escape for the weekend.

From the booking to the check out, the communication and details provided to check in were clear and helpful.

10/10 recommend.

Beautiful home and lovely well maintained gardens. The veggie garden and orchard which are accessible to guests elevated the ‘farm’ experience. We really enjoyed our stay.

A perfect getaway for our family group of 10 — The kitchen was fantastic for a group of 10

House was amazing. Loved it. Great amenities with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Suited our group of 10 adults perfectly. Kitchen had everything we needed; we cooked up a great roast dinner.
Gardens, Veggie garden and surrounding hillside very picturesque. Walked into town a little bit of a hike but took our time and managed in between the showers of rain and sleet. (Extremely cold weekend, but we were warm in the house)
Would recommend this accommodation to everybody. Loved the extra bar fridge for the drinks such a great idea.
We will be back to visit Daylesford and the surrounding area again. Thank you so much for a great stay.

Everything we needed

Fabulous place to stay for an extended getaway. Close to township, relaxing house with ample space to spread out, well stocked and equipped kitchen and very helpful, responsive host. Highly recommend.

There are few places to which I’ll give a five star rating for every aspect, but this incredible house deserved it.

We came with a group of old friends to celebrate a milestone birthday, and had the most amazing stay. It really was exactly as I’d hoped. Our only disappointment was that we had only booked for two nights. We could have stayed there much longer.

Can’t wait to come back!

We had a comfy and cozy time here. Lots of space in the kitchen for family gatherings. Clean and had all creature comforts. Short drive to town. Aging golden retriever next door was the goodest boy in the whole world.

Our family group thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms were lovely, the showers were hot and the heating made for a very comfortable stay. Also the kitchen catered well to our big group.

Fabulous accommodation
Our only gripe was the internet and the TV. We couldn’t get free to air TV at all and missed watching the Opening ceremony for the Olympics which was disappointing. And the internet was definitely unstable. Most of us just used our data.

We stayed with our extended family 6 adults and 4 kids. There was enough space to spread out. The cooking facilities were well set-up.

I wish there was a fire pit set up so that we could have watched the stars.

Brilliant place to stay for a large group. The money is well worth the accomodation, better than any 5 star hotel.

We (group of 7 friends) had the most wonderful 3 night stay at this magnificent property. Upon arrival, the accommodation was already heated to a cozy temperature. Each room was tastefully decorated, with super comfy beds and very well appointed. Great facilities available for cooking and entertaining and the garden was lovely to admire and meander around in. We loved it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms were gorgeous and having our own bathrooms was wonderful. The kitchen and dining space was easily big enough for 7 people preparing dinner together. The location was very peaceful and the garden lovely to wander around. My 15mth old granddaughter picked herself a strawberry!

Fantastic house for a girls weekend away. Tastefully furnished and gorgeous garden. Quiet location. We were happy to drive the short distance into town but we could have walked. Marguerite from the Discover Daylesford team was wonderful to deal with.

Good house for a large group

A very well appointed and beautiful home. Clean, well heated and having an ensuite for four out of the five bedrooms is ideal when you have multiple couples/family staying.

We enjoyed our stay, the only downside was a strange bedroom layout with 2 bedrooms only accessible from outside the main house and no door to separate these 2 bedrooms.

4 friends and I stayed here for a girls weekend away and your place was perfect. Gorgeous property, full of heritage charm with modern conveniences. I personally loved the huge comfy bed and spotless bathroom. Excellent heating too and being able to have an open fire was a bonus. Very well appointed kitchen. Everyone loved it!!

Very well equipped. Great bedroom and bathroom configuration. While there was an aircon unit in Kitchen/dining area balance of house not air conditioned. Would go again.

We were in Daylesford for a family wedding and stayed at this beautiful home. It was wonderful! Having ensuites to each room made such a difference as we rushed to get ready for each function; the location was great (only a short drive into town) and each room was really comfortable and beautifully appointed. Highly recommend it.
