We had a lovely stay. The house is charming and full of character. We loved the fireplace on chilly days. The location is ideal – just two blocks from Main Street and Lake Daylesford. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it!

This was a great find and very well decorated place! There so many lovely pieces of furniture, pictures, paintings and accessories, many things to look like a little museum. The beds were comfy and clean. Location is great, walking distance to the main shop and lots to do around.

This is our second stay at Newman House and it was equally spectacular. The home is stunningly decorated with new surprising art and objects at every turn – absolutely intriguing. We love the space and the surrounds – perfectly safe and secure for our old greyhound. It is in a perfect spot for easy walking to our favourite Daylesford places – Bar Merenda, Winespeake, The Daylesford Hotel and Bistro Terroir. Communication was super easy and very friendly. We had the most wonderful stay here. We stay in Daylesford a few times a year and this was the best place yet. So gorgeously decorated (something to look at in every corner), with an old worldly feeling but with all the mod cons. Will be back.

The best location we’ve ever stayed in Daylesford. Such a unique and beautifully curated home — we honestly could have spent hours wandering around looking at all the books, artwork, collections and thoughtful details throughout the house. It felt so loved and carefully put together.

Everything was immaculate and exceptionally clean. The bathrooms were stunning, especially the spa bath, but the real wow factor was the sunroom with the claw bath overlooking the hills — so luxurious and peaceful. Having a coffee each morning with those beautiful views was such a highlight.

The movie room was incredibly cosy, the linen was beautiful quality, and the kitchen was fully equipped with absolutely everything you could need. Even the kitchenware and Tupperware were lovely quality and so well maintained.

You can tell this home is genuinely cared for and looked after. Thanks for the late checkout, it was so appreciated and made our stay even more relaxing. One of the most memorable stays!!

Newman house is beautiful. I would say that the photos don’t quite do it justice. The place is cosy, character full and quirky. Quirky aesthetic (right on point for my taste) with lots to look at, rather like being in a living homely museum. If you are in to minimal living with clear benchtops then this isn’t the place for you. If you love a bit of maximalism, you’ll be in heaven! There are two baths for heavens sake and the beds are sumptuous, like sleeping in a cloud. We brought extra firewood to snuggle on down for the evening and didn’t feel the need to be out and about. Was the perfect place to rest and relax. Highly, highly recommended.

Beautiful home, super relaxing and great location – will be back again and again. — A really beautiful but comfortable home/house. Stunningly curated with so many wonderful areas of the house to explore and relax. We took our dogs with us over Xmas and they also could relax, walk everywhere with us. Everything you needed was there and it was just such a beautiful peaceful space to relax and move between outside and inside. We will definitely be back.

We brought our little dog and the cottage was very pet safe. Everything was lovely. The only one thing I would note is we could not find the air con unit control panel until the next day, and our first day there was over 41. However we would happily return for a repeat visit.

We were rained in over the weekend but because the property was so beautiful we didn’t need to leave it. The detail of the decor was inspiring. Absolutely the best place I have stayed in. The house is really great and well equipped. The only negative is that I found some of the decor creepy. Too many paintings of bird people and other some creepy objects, but it is a really lovely house and we had a wonderful time.

really cool place. clean, easy check in and modern kitchen/bathrooms with everything you need. Yard was enclosed and great for the dog too. The taxidermy animals and old portraits were a little creepy at night in the dark but it made for a unique experience.

What a beautiful hidden gem. The owners have clearly gone to a tremendous amount of effort to set up and decorate this beautifully curated home – loved the antiques, vintage stuff and curios – with the renovated sections nicely complementing and in keeping with the style of the home. The space made us feel comfortable and relaxed immediately. The home was beautifully private, yet located within easy walking distance from the main street which was full of restaurants and other beautiful shops. We really appreciated the unsolicited offer of an early check-in, and the fact that the central heating was on when we arrived – very thoughtful. We would highly recommend a stay in beautiful Newman House to visitors to Daylesford.

A lovely stay in a great location!

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this beautiful cottage in Daylesford. The location is just perfect—only a short walk into town—and the vibe of the place is so eclectic and charming. The furniture and decor are a gorgeous mix of art pieces and quirky stuffed animals, making it feel really unique and homey.

The bathrooms were spotless, and that deep clawfoot bath right off the sunroom is just a dream. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the whole place just felt so warm and welcoming.

Plus, our two Frenchies, Norman and Napoleon, had an absolute blast. They adored the cozy fireplace and loved playing in the safe, spacious yard. Honestly, this cottage was a gem for the whole family—two-legged and four-legged alike! We can’t recommend it enough.

What a fabulous, comfortable home away from home! So much to look at.

Newton House was s as described, contained interesting attracts that are worthy of plenty of discussion and all the amenities. Was 2 minute walk to the towns centre with cases and restaurants. The log fire heater was adequate for warming the main room. The extra lounge room was very useful allowing separation when needed. We ate in both evenings we stayed and used the crockery, utensils and oven to cook really good food. Nice to be so close to the lake for brisk walls.
Left a pair of Ugg boots behind and have struggled getting reply from the hosts for 5 days.
Otherwise, overall a great enjoyable stay.

Great place to stay very close to the Main Street and lake. Location fantastic, walking distance to everything. The place was very warm with the ducted heating and open fireplace. A huge spa bath. Very quirky with some of the furniture but it contributed to an interesting stay. The yard is very secure for dogs. Beds were comfy with plenty of towels supplied.
Would definitely stay again! For those that like an open fireplace, it is recommended to bring some extra wood as only a little bit of kindling is supplied – which was detailed in the instructions when we booked.

We stayed at the Newman House for a weekend getaway in Daylesford and absolutely loved it. The house is beautifully curated, with something new and interesting to discover in every corner. If you’re after the novelty of somewhere quirky and different, this is the perfect spot. It’s close to the town centre and just a short stroll to the lake, making it a great base for exploring. The cottage itself is the ideal place to relax and unwind with a glass (or a few bottles) of wine. The beds were lovely and comfortable too. Happy to recommend this place to others. Discover Daylesford was absolutely lovely—clean, cozy, and exactly what we needed. Even though our family trip didn’t fix everything (life’s messy like that), this place was a peaceful escape. The host was super welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.

The kids loved it, the space was perfect, and we really appreciated the quiet, comfortable vibe. Would definitely stay again if we’re back in the area!

A perfect weekend away. — The location was great and walking distance to everything. We stayed in the first night and cooked dinner with the fire going. The next day we walked to the lake and then had dinner on the main street about a 5 minutes walk. The yard is dog friendly and we were able to leave our Labrador outside on her bed. There was a doggie dog but she prefers to wait for us. I would definitely come back and also recommend to others.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and in a great position. You can easily walk to the lake and to the Main Street with plenty of choice for restaurants and cafes.

We returned to Newman House and loved it again – what a wonderful location. Close to the city and Lake Daylesford, great walks in the surrounding countryside. The house is stylish and the bathrooms are small oases. The fenced garden is fantastic for dogs.

The location is perfect, big comfy beds and great to have two (well three really!) bathrooms. The place has been beautifully updated to have all the mod cons but still feel that original 1880s – 1900s character. Being up on the hill is great and the decor really makes it.

We loved the Newman House and our expectations have been clearly exceeded. The house is fantastic designed and decorated – marvelous furniture, paintings and antiques. A wonderful accommodation to rest, chill and recharge. Every room in the house is special and the bathrooms are like a spa. The walking distance to the village and Lake Daylesford makes it a great experience. The host was very responsive and helpful.

Newman House is an outstanding Airbnb. We felt a sense of warmth and welcoming on arrival – but also a sense of excitement in exploring the eclectic art and decor. The house catered for our every need – the kitchen was really well set up and easy to use. The bathroom was gorgeous – love a heated towel rail in the middle of winter! I still can’t decide my favourite place to sit and read – in front of the fire, in the snug, or in the sunroom at the front. But it was easy to decide the best place for the evening – in front of the fire with a glass of wine and vinyl records playing. This was only topped by snuggling into the most comfortable bed for a wonderful night sleep. I strongly recommend Newman House for a wonderful getaway.

We have a fabulous stay! The perfect cozy get away complete with two beautiful baths and a lovely fire place, we did need to purchase wood. The house was so interesting and fully of things to admire. Super convenient location walking distance to the main st.

This is the perfect place to stay if your looking for somewhere in Daylesford, it was extremely welcoming with everything you could need if you where in your own home. It was such a unique stay with so much character and story behind all the artwork, antiques and collectables with every glance there is something new and beautiful to see. It was only a small walk away from the centre of Daylesford making it extremely convenient to explore the amazing town easily.

Very well equiped, filled with personal touches, wonderful LP’s and lounges, extremely comfortable beds and linen and very clean and tidy…also central to everywhere and everything Daylesford offers …within walking distance!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here so much that we’re actively looking for other weekends to book in.

We appreciated that the property is pet friendly and completely secure, our two schnauzers enjoyed running around the garden and lying by the fire in the evenings, it’s so refreshing that a property of this calibre is pet friendly without excessive rules for the pets whereas properties that are a lot inferior impose unrealistic rules around pets.

There is nothing more that we could have asked for from Newman house, it is an incredibly beautifully decorated property with a lot of nooks and corners to explore and take in – our biggest tip would be to pour yourself a generous glass of wine, light a fire, pick out a vinyl to listen to and settle in.

Newman House is spectacular. The renovation of the property is exemplary and the interior design is inspired… it was such a joy and a privilege to spend four glorious nights. At every turn there is a beautiful object, book or artwork and it really does take time to absorb the surroundings. When you combine that with the autumnal views across the lake and beyond from the front veranda, it’s a pretty impressive property. We had sunshine to enjoy the deck area out the back for lunch and colder nights to appreciate the fire. We enjoyed our (short) walks to Beppe, Bistro Terroir and Bar Merenda for dinners and to Winespeake for supplies. Brilliant spot in Daylesford. Don’t hesitate to book…

What a beautiful space! Amazingly decorated, sparkling clean and a fantastic location with the Main Street and lake front in a walkable distance. The type of place that you don’t even turn the TV on and are busy reading a book on a chaise lounge. Had a beautiful long weekend at the property and would highly recommend it.

The Newman House is a lovely private home. Bathrooms are modern, stylish, and clean with plenty of hot water. Mattresses are high quality and comfortable, with exquisite bed linens. Beds and bedding are often shoddy at Airbnbs, but at the Newman House they are upscale and perfect. It has pleasant and private outdoor space for dining. There are a lot of decorative objects and antiques, so check the photos for the vibe. Overall this is a luxurious and highly recommended place to stay.

Great accommodation in ideal location and would love to return should the gardener be kept away — Incredibly well decorated and unique. Amazing location and the home is so well set up for guests!

Absolutely loved staying here with the family. Walking distance to everything including the lake and Vincent st shops and bonus of free local swimming pool a few doors down. Stunning view from the terrace, lovely courtyard and absolutely loved the classic country decor of the cottage which just added so much charm to our stay. We also travelled with our 8yo daughter who appreciated having Netflix to indulge in and our little cavoodle was also able to come along and snuggle up by the fire in the evenings. We had a wonderful family stay enjoying the local surrounds, taking naps and reading by the fireplace. Discover Daylesford were also extremely welcoming, warm and friendly with assistance of early check-in. Highly recommend.

Wonderful accommodation – owners to be commended. — Beautifully styled, with a warm and welcoming feeling as soon as you pull into the driveway. Lovely garden with spots to rest. Loved the day bed/room, the spa, the cosy lounge – in fact, I wanted to move in! Kitchen and dining area well stocked with all you will need in regard to crockery, cutlery and other utensils. Comfortable bedding. Perfect location very close to town centre but peaceful. Will definitely be back , and the fact that my dog got to enjoy the house as well was the icing on the cake.

The Newman house is stunning. Each room is beautiful. We arrived at night so we were a little creeped out in the beginning just due to some of the styling pieces, but soon enough felt right at home. We sat in front of the fire and listened to the record player. We didn’t want to leave after our two nights and would love to come back one day. Our own homes now feel very boring after our stay!

We had a two night stay at Newman House, first impressions were just how much there was to look at! The property is beautifully furnished and the attention to detail in the decor is incredible.

Highlights of our stay were the giant spa bath, the ample reading material, and how close we were to the main street.

The only downside to this place is unfortunately the bed. We found it quite uncomfortable and woke up with sore backs. We are only in our 30s, so this is definitely something that could be improved upon as it might be a bigger issue for other guests.

Overall though, a lovely stay in a great location so I would still recommend this place to others.

Newman House is beautifully decorated with not one, but three gorgeous and luxurious bathrooms. Newman House is arty, quirky and eclectic. But due to some very disturbing artworks, photographs and paraphernalia, Newman House is not for everybody, especially the faint hearted. The hosts – Discover Daylesford are very lovely. They responded very promptly to all my calls and messages.

Wonderful stay at Newman House. It was nice being a short walk to the shops, bars and cafes as well as to the lake. Being off the main road the place felt quiet, private and peaceful. The fireplace was beautiful for the crisp autumn weather, and the stock of firewood was highly appreciated. Eclectic decoration which made the place feel unique and not a cookie-cutter cottage. I would highly recommend booking, but we will be competing for dates as we are certainly coming back!
