Little Morris Trentham
Trentham Accommodation
Tucked away within a picture-perfect country garden in one of Trentham’s most charming pockets, Little Morris is a beautifully restored one-bedroom cottage made for slow weekends, cosy nights and relaxed escapes for two.
Sitting alongside the historic Morris Cottage, Little Morris is a detached, self-contained guest cottage with its own private entrance, offering an intimate place to call home while exploring this much-loved corner of Victoria’s spa country.
The Space
There’s a lovely story behind this little building too. Historical sales information for the property describes Morris Cottage as dating to 1896, with Little Morris – previously referred to as the Garden Guest Cottage, originally serving as owner William Morris’s gold-mining tool shed before being thoughtfully transformed into the charming retreat it is today.
Inside, Little Morris is warm, simple and inviting, with a relaxed country style that feels perfectly at home in Trentham. The bedroom features a comfortable queen bed and electric blanket for those crisp country nights, while electric wall heating throughout keeps the cottage snug during the cooler months. The private bathroom is stocked with thoughtful essentials including towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hairdryer.
A self-contained kitchenette gives you everything you need for an easy weekend away, including an induction cooktop and electric oven, along with tea, coffee and pantry basics. It’s ideal for a leisurely breakfast or simple meal at home – but with some of Trentham’s most celebrated food experiences only a short walk away, Little Morris also gives you every excuse to leave the cooking to someone else.
Outside, the cottage sits within an enchanting established garden setting of mature trees and traditional English and cool-climate plantings. The surrounding gardens were designed by landscape designer Kaz Krasovskis, with the broader property featuring manicured lawns, fruit trees, berries and vegetable gardens that create a wonderfully romantic country atmosphere. Little Morris has garden seating as well as a sheltered seating area beneath the carport, giving you quiet spots to sit with your morning coffee, open a book or simply enjoy the garden around you.

What's here
The neighbourhood
Directly opposite is Stony Creek Reserve, where bushland outlooks, native wildlife and the picturesque Wombat Trail bring nature almost to the doorstep. Yet for all its tranquillity, Little Morris is wonderfully connected to town – the historic main street, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and pubs of Trentham are only a short walk away.
And Trentham itself is very much part of the experience. Spend the morning discovering Trentham Falls, walk or cycle sections of the Domino Trail through the Wombat State Forest, explore the surrounding wineries or simply wander into town and settle in for something delicious. Local favourites highlighted by the owners include Annie Smithers’ acclaimed Du Fermier, the historic Cosmopolitan Hotel and its garden, and Trentham General.
Little Morris isn’t about rushing from one thing to the next. It’s about waking warm and cosy on a cool country morning, wandering into town for coffee, returning with something delicious from the bakery, sitting quietly in the garden and deciding that perhaps you don’t need to do very much at all.
As the owners so perfectly describe it, “Little Morris evokes a slower pace of life – a charming, unassuming and cosy little place that feels like a warm hug”.
Come for the country air, stay for the simple pleasures, and discover your own little corner of Trentham at Little Morris.
