Heritage Cottage

To be honest, the house could use some upgrades, especially the kitchen, and the cleanliness could be improved. There was a noticeable spider web next to the inside handle of the front door. The carpet and sofa in the living room are quite old, and there was a slight musty smell in the living room.

One of our friends who stayed here also runs an Airbnb herself. She chose this vintage-style house with high expectations, but she ended up feeling a bit disappointed.

Just for noting, if you’re a light sleeper, two of the rooms are night next to the road and roundabout, but this is probably only an issue on the busier weekends. It also backs onto the motel, and we had a motel guest walk into our the house on one occasion.

We requested 2 single beds as we had a group of 5 – 1x couple, 1 x single female, 2 x single males. Property confirmed single bed configuration.
3 king beds provided. Due to late check in after an event, it was too late to do anything about it and 1 male had to sleep on the couch, which dampened our stay a little for the price per head.
Otherwise a lovely cottage in a great location with a short stroll to the Sunday market.

We had no problems with only having a kitchenette, but is something for families to keep in mind if they need a more functional kitchen.

It also wasn’t clear from the listing that the back patio opens onto the car park for a motel, nor that the windows of two of the bedrooms look into motel rooms, so it doesn’t feel that private. The “kitchenette” contains only a microwave and coffee pod machine, and the dining room consisted of a table with no chairs and a fan lying on the floor. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable, and everything was very clean. We just did not feel that this was worth the high fee payable for a one night stay, when compared to other properties that we have stayed at in the area.
