We knew from the moment we arrived at Foxglove Villa that we were somewhere very special. Perched up on the hill overlooking Daylesford this gorgeous house is set among lush old-fashion gardens, home to fruit trees, rhododendrons and wisteria vines. The beautiful terrace has spectacular views, the endless vista dotted with terracotta rooftops, Cathedral spires and trees alive with bird life. We loved sitting out here. It was just so peaceful and beautiful. The house is as gorgeous as the pictures suggest. Old world charm, beautifully renovated with style. The upstairs bedroom where we slept was just so lovely! Beautiful windows all around, with amazing views. There’s even a door out to the garden from this bedroom! And the best thing, for us, was the little gate in the garden that leads directly into the Botanical Gardens right next door. Foxglove Villa is an easy walk into town – but we loved this place so much that we tended to buy food in town and come back to enjoy it sitting on the terrace. We had lovely weather so spent a lot of time outside in the garden but we would have been equally happy inside. There’s a very comfortable lounge room (with great views!) and a beautiful dining room with double doors that open up onto a patio. We traveled as a couple but would happily come back with friends. We really did love this place and would highly recommend it.

“Nearing the home, I heard my husband comment on the new roof and then the framed window. I think he knew his wife was going to be very chuffed. After ten minutes, I had to call my twin and I said, “Don’t worry, if we all can’t go to Europe, we can come here because this place, honestly, feels like Tuscany. It steps up the hill with gardens and views of the town and beside it is the Botanical gardens, which you enter through a little gate from the property, and then the Convent Gallery with its cross on its steeple and a beautiful dome roof! It’s a little piece of heaven and no wonder nuns lived here. I highly recommend it for a break that feels like you were transported somewhere far away – magical. Yes, yes, yes!”

Foxglove Villa is everything it says on the box and then some. The location was absolutely perfect, practically in the botanic garden and walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. The house and garden were stunning, with superb views from the sunny deck. Beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Communication from the hosts was excellent and they made some great suggestions for places to dine and things to do. We travelled as a group of friends and every single one of us would gladly have moved in. We thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommended: Wombat Hill Cafe in the botanic garden for breakfast; Sunday morning stroll through the garden to the market; Beppe for dinner; and taking time to soak up the views from the garden and deck while enjoying local wine and produce, of which there is plenty available nearby. This is a delightful property and we would all happily stay again.
